Friends

Having friends by your side is one of the best and top recommended remedies by doctors for your sickness. My friends have helped me plenty while my symptoms are were at their worst. They give the best distractions and can keep your mind busy when things get tough. For example, coming up soon in America for me would be Thanksgiving.
Of course I am missing my families home cooked meals of candied yams, baked macaroni and cheese, and my sister’s pies and desserts she puts so much heart into( mouth and eyes are watering). unfortunately, I am a terrible chef, but! My friends are amazing and decided to have a potluck.
Surrounding yourself near people who care about you is one of THE most important things for a person, and even more so someone who lives all the way in Narnia.
Nostalgic shows/ movies

I LOVE watching movies and tv shows that remind me of my childhood and home. For me I always watch Avatar the last Air Bender, every holiday movie, and old Disney and Nickelodeon reruns which you can also find on YouTube.
When I watch these it does a great job of making me remember what home feels like and feeling like that little girl under her blankets again late at night. Also if you have NOT watched Avatar the Last Airbender, you won’t regret it.
Old movies and shows are the best way to feed the heart. And perfect for multitasking if you want to do other things. Like crocheting, reading, or even cooking. Sometimes keeping your mind busy is the best solution.
Mental Health
The most important thing to remember thought, it’s ok to ask for help. I know ,I know “ it’s not that easy”. Trust me I’m still trying to get over that hurdle as well. But being able to tell friends and family that you can use support and comfort doesn’t need to be an embarrassing thing. I can assure you it’s not common to laugh and point fingers at someone when they are asking for help.

If you feel nervous and maybe even scared. Journaling is a great outlet to feel your emotions and a place to be completely honest with yourself. It’s also can be a form of self reflection. When I miss home or I’m not feeling the best I often write what about home that I miss the most or what I’m having the most trouble with. I recommend if you don’t know what to write you can google journal prompts and it help you get into the groove of things.
All in all, homesickness can come in many ways and can happen at any time. But know you are not alone and it’s ok to miss home. Doesn’t mean you’re not happy where you are now, but that you miss where you came from.
So my fellow yappers what are your homesickness remedies that you can recommend?
